Beware: TruGreen / ChemLawn Sucks Balls

So continues my luck with companies in general. I swear, anymore, there isn’t a company out there that’s worth a shit. No matter the service or product, I seem to find the ones that absolutely suck ass at what they do.

I’ve been using TruGreen for over a year now. My yard is not the greenest on the block, I still have crab grass and other weeds. I don’t know what their service is like in your area, but in my area (and apparently other areas) – it’s not worth the price.

My yard looked better when I did all the maintenance myself. The only reason I chose a company to help with fertilization was because I’m very limited on time. Well I can plainly see that the limited amount of time I have to spend on that would be more beneficial than paying this sorry ass company called TruGreen. They pretty much have done nothing to help my lawn become greener or stop weeds. So what the hell am I hiring them for? I don’t know. What I do know is that after my last scheduled treatment, they are history.

Doing just a bit of research, I see I am not the only one who has been unlucky enough to find out that TruGreen / ChemLawn blows ape dick. See: consumeraffairs.com, search Google for trugreen sucks, or search Google for chemlawn sucks and you will see I’m not the only one completely dissatisfied with their service.

  1. I work for Trugreen and the complaints are 100%. If you cancel and you have a gate lock it. We can’t charge you in the back isn’t done. Please don’t blame the tech that does your lawn he is basically forced to do the job. Some techs are scum and they will do your lawn without knocking on the door. Knocking is company policy. Anytime a customer cancels the tech gets blamed. Even if the customer has died the tech gets negative points. At my branch we work monday thru saturday 630am to sometimes 8am. We have to do 6 days of work in 5 to just get off on Saturday. So basically if people that don’t want service that day you may have to work saturday. I went to a home for the first time and the lady said she was going to sue me for coming to her house. She told me that she had cancelled to 3 people. I didn’t even know she cancelled. In the end she apologized to me and said she felt bad for me. I even had a gun pulled on me when I was going to do a lawn and a dog sent at me. I was taken out my route and put in another because I refused to do cancelled houses. I will say though some customers are nut jobs. They won’t water the lawn and cut the grass way to low. Any birds or animals will bring weed seeds to your lawn also. I had a customer tell me that we didn’t do a good job and the back lawn. I told him when you have 4 dogs running around in the back you will get yellow areas from the pee. Sometimes it’s the owners of the home and then it’s the managment putting pressure of the techs. We have people quit left and right. 100 degree days with no a/c in the trucks doing 25 to 30 lawns. And to people complaining about how long a tech is on your lawn. Yes the paper work does take longer and it’s gonna take longer with the new papers. We are only suppose to be on your lawn 1 minute per 1,000 sq feet. And to the person that said the lawn person was drunk how do you know if that guy wasn’t tired. At my branch a lot of us pull 13-14 hour days
6 days a week. Guys like me pull it because we refuse to do the wrong thing to the customer. But sometimes we will do what the company says to get off to see our family that we hardly see. Sometimes we even have to work Saturday because the customer wants Saturday apps only which is total BS. I also would like to say a lot of customers are getting huge discount because we are forced to make sale or get written up. I’ve seen people with 30,000 sqft lawns get marked at 2000 sqft. Then we show up to do 2k for 43 dollars and it should be way over 120 and the person still wants a discount. I know I ranted for sometime but I will agree the company isn’t great but I fell the good lawn techs are getting hosed.

I guess you guys are exceptions to the rule, 1st off everybody I guess, but you know that if you don’t seed your lawn, to thicken it up you can potentially get crabgrass, don’t tell me they seeded, it I don’t believe it. If you seeded it you did it improperly. As usual sombody blaming somebody else for their problems, I bet you just couldn’t afford it, so you had to have an excuse to justify your incompetence. As for a drunk trugreen employee, not likely, but probably same issue of affordability, always someone trying to get something for nothing. I’ve had them for years and have several folks I know that have them, never had major issue, once in a while a minor issue, usually scheduling. Open your mind and take responsiblitity.”
You are obviously a Trugreen employee. Why else would you be on this site? If you were a satisifed Trugreen customer, you would have no reason to be trolling the internet looking for complaints against the company. I just cancelled my service with them after ten years because my lawn has been looking worse and worse for the last two years. Trugreen used to have numerous customers in my neighborhood, but many of those people have cancelled in the last few years. Both of my next-door neighbors and three neighbors across the street are all former Trugreen customers. Their service has deteriorated to the point that it is just a waste of money.

So then please explain how I could afford to hire another company to provide the same service, yet I got better results? Do you have any real answers for that or just more of your own assumptions? My lawn has looked great ever since I hired another company to provide the same service. Maybe you should stick to selling junk coins on eBay rather than assuming so many things about others.

Hey, I’m behind you on this one. The guy against your comment is probably a Trugreen employee.

Today – AFTER I ALREADY CANCELED – they came out and sprayed. Like hell if he went into our backyard. Usually I can smell the chemical and also see the residue glistening off of the grass, but that wasn’t the case today. For all I know, he didn’t even do the front yard either.

What I do know is that he billed us (which I’ve already called their office about…not that they cared about my concerns or cancellation either) and stated that he sprayed the front, side and back. Well, for one, we don’t have a side of our yard with grass, so that’s false. Add to that the fact that he didn’t spray the back, it just proves that he falsified his bill as far as the tasks he said he completed. Can you say “FRAUD”?

I’ve spent more time this summer pulling weeds and crabgrass from my lawn than I should’ve. I don’t want anyone like your detractor giving me nonsense that I don’t know what I’m talking about, what something for nothing, etc., because I know when I’m supposed to cut, water and do whatever maintenance after they’ve treated (haha…they actually don’t even do that!) my lawn.

They are cheats and liars…and good luck finding a manager to listen to your complaint if you have one.

Lesson here: If you’re going to end up getting on your hands and knees to pull the weeds and crabgrass that Trugreen claim they’ll prevent, you might as well just purchase some Scott’s or Ortho products and save yourself money.

  6. I just cancelled. The company is a huge rip off. I would come home from work with bills at my door saying that they treated my lawn, trees, blah blah blah. My mom was visiting one month and there wasn’t a car in the driveway. The truegreen guy came and basically roamed the lawn like he was drunk. 2 min later he was done. It took him longer to fill out the bill flyer then to treat my lawn. They don’t do the jobs they’re supposed to and I don’t know how much money i’ve wasted. The company is a sucker machine.

  7. TruGreen killed my lawn. These are bad people with a bad product and rude manners. They turned my lawn yellow and did not cancel the service when requested. They billed me and did not credit when I reminded them that they canceled previously. I now have weeds, yellow grass and am in collections.

Stay away from TruGreen – your lawn will thank you.

TruGreen really does suck balls. As my friend said.

Life is too short to deal with assholes like TruGreen. DO a little research and you will see that many many people are pissed off.
