CNN Headline Shirts? How Sad Do You Have To Be?

I’ve noticed the little T-Shirt icon next to some headlines on CNN for awhile now and just now decided to post about them. When I first saw them, I cringed a bit. I mean, who the hell would want a shirt with a news headline on it unless it was funny and/or some-what witty? And I don’t remember CNN ever being particularly funny.

For example, you can purchase a CNN shirt with the following headlines:

  • Residents moved for Olympic progress
  • Celebrity couples that survive Hollywood
  • 6 million bees spill in wreck

There’s nothing funny, witty, poignant, or otherwise about these. How sad do you have to be to want a shirt with a headline that says absolutely nothing? I definitely don’t get why CNN is even bothering with shirts.

Spammer Jailed, Escapes, Kills Family and Self

I just read about the arrest of the “spam king” (Robert Soloway) on Tuesday and then today I read the headline “Convicted Spammer Escapes Prison, Murders Family, Kills Himself” and of course immediately thought it was about Robert Soloway. It wasn’t.

Apparently Edward Davidson is/was also known as the “spam king”. While the use of “spam king” for 2 different people was frustrating and confusing, the story itself makes it seem like not such a big deal.

A teenage girl was shot in the neck and a baby was found unhurt in a car seat inside the vehicle where the three bodies were found, Arapahoe County undersheriff Mark Campbell said. The relationship between the girl, baby and the escaped convict wasn’t immediately clear.

The bodies of “Spam King” Edward “Eddie” Davidson, his wife, and 3-year-old daughter were found in an SUV parked in a farmhouse driveway in a rural part of Bennett, about 25 miles east of Denver. Authorities said Davidson was the apparent gunman.

What a low-life coward.
